Using Manual Focus Lenses with the Olympus E620


Call me a Luddite, but I like using manual focus, even with my Olympus E620. It frequently makes my photography more fun. And it allows me to use some premium quality prime lenses that I couldn’t otherwise afford in their AF incarnations.

Many of us have some marvelous glass left over from our Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Leica and Minolta film camera systems. Olympus E620 Review Part 1


The complete Olympus e620 review will span several individual posts. Rather than save all my notes for three or four weeks before writing a single comprehensive review, I’ll publish it in pieces after each step of the process. Later I’ll post an index summary pointing to each individual article in the review series.

Olympus e620 Reviews Roundup - Update 06 Jul 2009


Now that I’ve ordered my e620 there’s not much to do but wait until it ships. Naturally, it wasn’t in stock anywhere in the body-only configuration, but I’m told that should be remedied sometime next week.

25 June update — Got it! The new e620 arrived this afternoon. I’ll post some first impressions in the next day or two. Hope to have a full review write-up within the next week or so.

e620 buzz takes back seat to Olympus Pen E-P1


Expect the online buzz about the Olympus e620 to move to the back burner the next few weeks. Today (15 June 2009) Olympus unveiled its new micro-four-thirds camera, the Pen E-P1.

Olympus’s announcement says it’s “Not a point and shoot. Not an SLR. It’s a Pen.” Judging from the photos on Olympus’s site it’ll come with a 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 lens. Also available is a 17mm f2.8. And the price? $799 for the camera with 14-42 kit says Oly. A bit less for body only. And $100...  (read the rest)
